Site Selection Services by SGSI

Site Selection &
Site Analysis services

Overview

Whether your industry is groceries or banking; health care or wireless phones, few decisions are as critical as choosing the best location.   Few decisions are also as "map intensive".

To select the best site, at a minimum, one must consider:

  • Locations of available sites;

  • Locations of your other branches;

  • Competitor locations;

  • Proximity to potential and current customers.

SGSI offers software tools, map-enabled databases, and user training to empower you to select better sites.  SGSI also offers site studies as a service, for organizations who prefer outsourcing.

SGSI site-related services include the following:

  • Site screening and ranking;

  • Site matching; and,

  • Site optimization.

Example #1:  Site Screening & ranking
Prioritizing sites for WiFi  wireless internet access

Problem:
A telecommunications company has a master license to install Wi-Fi broadband internet service in a espresso coffee chain.  Where should the service be installed first?

Solution:
Ask SGSI to score available sites and rank them based, e.g., on propensity of residents to use internet services, density of SOHO businesses, competing telecom services, and/or other success factors.

Result:
Ranked sites and map illustrating "hot spots" of demand.

Example #2:  Site Screening & ranking
Where to place bank investment advisors

Problem:
A growing bank has created an investment banking affiliate and is seeking to attract high-wealth clients.  How should bank branches be prioritized to host on-site investment advisors?

Solution:

Ask SGSI to score available sites and rank them based, e.g., on proximity to households having high average income, wealth, and/or other explanatory factors.

Result:
Ranked sites and map illustrating "hot spots" of demand vis a vis existing branch network.

Example #3:  Site Screening & ranking
Selecting sites for maternal health clinics

Problem:
A health care organization is developing a network of specialty clinics offering maternal and infant care. Which neighborhoods or specific available sites should be considered first?

Solution:
Ask SGSI to score available sites and rank them based, e.g., on age/gender of residents, proximity to existing/competing facilities, and/or other success factors.

Result:
Ranked sites and map illustrating "hot spots" of demand.

Budgets & Costs

Site analysis services projects range in cost from $15,000 to $100,000+ depending on the sophistication of the analysis, the cost of licensed market data, the quantity of sites, and other factors.

A site screening and ranking project, involving 300 sites and demographic data by census block group may cost $15-25,000.

These costs are typically a minor fraction of the potential gain to clients from making better site selection decisions.

Ongoing Support

Future iterations of site analysis services may be useful as demographic data, variable ranks, or site data changes.  It is often possible to repeat an analysis for a small fraction of the original cost.
